Overview of the General Purpose Engine & Gearbox Drive. As the motorbike engine "used to" run at 2-3 times the speed of the General Purpose Engine - the gearbox slowed down the rpm too much! - and hence the need for the large sprocket on the output shaft of the gearbox.
