This album contains photos of all type of engines which can be used to power a kart. Some engines (e.g. a vertical shaft driven engine as on a lawnmower engine) will require a good deal of tweaking, adjusting and setting up to drive a kart. The simplest is the "General Purpose Engine" which with a simple sprocket, can drive a rear axle with a chain and a larger srocket on the rear axle. The motorbike engine offers the best performance, typically having a self-contained cluctch and gears.
